Being close in age to...I completely agree with you! Being close in age to young adults themselves (I'm twenty-one), I find it ridiculous how some of the boys in young adult novels are portrayed today. Since when was being controlling over a significant other attractive?<br /><br />And I totally agree with you on Wes too! Him and Eli, from Along for the Ride, top my fictional boyfriend list, and I'm a huge Sarah Dessen fan as well. She's the reason I started writing my own novels, about normal, non-douchebag boys. :)<br /><br />Oh, and this isn't related to your blog post, but a very late congratulations on being a finalist in ABNA! As a fellow Canadian, I'm so proud that you made it really far, and I'm sure we'll see your books gracing shelves at Chapters soon.
